Tasers are cool but what about zombies?

So I've heard on a blog and on NPR about the new line of fashionable Taser guns. Now I can get a sweet pink Taser to match my outfit. If anyone messes with me on the street I will pump them full of 50,000 volts and the last thing they'll see is my color coordinated self-defense Taser! However, what I truly worry about is zombies. Could I subdue a zombie with my Taser? I'm not really sure. I mean doesn't a Taser work by basically short-circuiting the impulses from the brain? Maybe I should just stick to using blunt force objects that I find on hand in the next zombie uprising. I guess I could use the Taser to stop the guy running faster than me from the zombies.

waterproof rocks!

Since I always ride my bike to work rain or shine I have full rain-gear. I have a jacket and pants and gloves which do a really great job. I even have waterproof shoes, however my socks become fully exposed when riding which really sucks. This Christmas I got the final piece to my waterproof greatness!

http://www.overshoe.com/recreational/products/allseason.php

I got the Voyager series, which are super light and pack great in my bag (which is waterproof)! They fit right over all my shoes and don't feel clunky or heavy when I'm wearing them around. This morning was the first solid downpour we've gotten since I received them, so I was super excited to test them out in more than just a drizzle. They worked great!!! I love being waterproof, its like I'm a super-hero.

Poop-tastic!

So I was reading the Economist this morning and stumbled across this gem.
"CHINA'S year of the dog and George Bush's push for alternative fuel sources have proudly come together in San Francisco. The city is planning to turn the waste of its 120,000 dogs into usable energy. …"
I know its great, but almost too funny to be taken seriously. I plan to poop in the next gas tank I see!

Scanner Darkly

I'm reading P. Dick's book, A Scanner Darkly, which so far is pretty sweet. One of my friends at the library saw me reading it and told me that they are making it into a movie. The trailer makes it look like it could be good, the only bad thing is that they have cast Keanu Reeves as Bob Arctor/Fred, the main character. How does he keep getting into movies?? The rest of the cast looks good... The movie is acted live, but then animated. Its like that movie that wasn't so good, The Waking Life? Reading the book, makes me think that turning it into a movie that is coherent could be difficult. I guess we'll see.

Canadian Refuge?

I was reading an article about these guys who are trying to getting amnesty in Canada after deserting from the US military. I can understand people fleeing to Canada during the Vietnam draft, but I don't have much sympathy for people who have willingly enlisted. Sure you get a college scholarship and a steady job, but along with the package comes the part of the deal where you have to do something in return. So what do you think? I think these guys are stupid to think that they could reap all the benefits and not have to pay the piper.

Weekend Blahs

On Friday Mike and Leonard came to visit. Unfortunately I still had to work at the bar on Friday night. Since they were my boys they sat front row at the bar and all the bar tenders treated them very well all night. Needless to say they were wasted and passed out by the time I finished up work and made it home. Luckily Mike didn't try to fight the whole bar this time around. It fucking rained all Saturday and Mike and L-train were feeling rough after praying to the Ceramic god through the night. We ended up staying around the house, Mike wanted help "hooking up" his MySpace account. Then we went to see Underworld II. This movie was pretty horrible. Some good fight scenes, but nobody every dies!!! The best parts were the hilarious Skinemax scenes and the hokeyness of it all. However, I watched a preview of Stay Alive, which looks like it will be horrible too. The premise is that when a group of game players start playing this game, they die when their characters die!!! If that was the case grimbil would would be dead about 4 times a day, cause he sucks at computer games.

Ho-lidays

Well I'm sitting in an empty library once again. It is truly amazing to me that an entire library is open and I'm the only one here! I guess everyone is finished with their exams and have either left for Christmas or they are in their dorm rooms drinking away memories of the semester. I feel like doing that as well. Instead tomorrow I'm driving down to K-vegas and then two days later I'm driving another 4 hours to Wilmington. Then on Christmas day I'm driving back to DC and flying out to Amsterdam. I'm not looking forward to all this damnable driving, but I think I'll be able to relax with my lady while we are in Amsterdam. May everyone have a blessed holiday with family and friends.

Lions and tigers and magic, Oh my!

I went to see The Chronicles of Narnia last night with my special lady friend and we both loved it! It helps that the theatre we go to serves excellent paninis and beer, but the movie itself was soo good. It made me want to read the series immediately. After being somewhat disappointed by Harvey Puckett IV, this was a joy to watch. If you haven't seen it...go NOW.

Ninja Scroll TV series!!

I recently ran across the Ninja Scroll television series, which I have to say I had never heard of before. The plot is basic, but interesting. I highly recommend this series if you like the movie. Jubei is of course the center of the show and have no fear he will dole out some serious hurt on someone in every episode. I used BitTorrent to download the season. If you are interested here is a link to where I found it.

http://isohunt.com/torrents.php?ihq=ninja+scroll&ext=&op=and

I downloaded the file "[a4e]Ninja Scroll TV 01-13"

I'm now watching the TV series, "Naruto". I know its on Cartoon Network now but I am watching the subtitled version, which seems much more...well real. I'll put out a review of it when I'm done.
